A really simple way to focus on decluttering your home is to hone in on one specific area. We encourage easy routines to prevent overwhelm because no one has time to pull everything out and start all over again.
Today, we are talking about going into a room and tackling the clutter once and for all.
This can be done multiple times per month to get into the habit of decluttering each room.
Declutter Any Room-
- Download your supply list
- Set timer for 30 minutes
- Toss items in box for donation
- Recycle any papers, magazines and toss anything that needs to go into the garbage
Rearrange Furniture and Eliminate-
If there is more than 3-4 pieces of furniture to a room – consider downsizing, rearranging for a deeper clean and donating extra bulky pieces that no longer appear aesthetically pleasing.
The Challenge-
Grab a garbage bag and go through the room within 30 minutes. Opening drawers, cabinets and looking in closed spaces to see what can go. The more you do this, the more you’ll become accustom to living with less.
Don’t think, just toss! Our motto!

Declutter Any Room In 30 Minutes Or Less
We always encourage an empty house if possible when you’re doing these challenges because it gives you time to clear your head without any noise in the home.
Not a lot can be done if you’re not motivated, so the night before you do a declutter of any room, set the tone with your mindset and really visualize what you want your space to feel like. This is where that mood board will tie so beautifully into this game.
Now that you’ve decided you are ready:
- have a glass of lemon water on the counter to keep yourself hydrated
- opt for calm music or open the windows to hear nature
- don’t go over the 30 minutes (not done? do again tomorrow)
- if there’s something you are hesitant about keeping place in the bin or basket for keeping and revisit that item another day (your mindset may tell you differently when you go back to ask yourself if you really need or want it)
- make it fun, no overwhelm, you’ve got this
- if you’re anything like me and love books/magazines…place in a stack for you to look over again in the coming days (dust them off too)

Sharing your progress is part of the challenge. Get into the group now and post a picture, tell us how you made out! You’re sure to inspire someone else to get moving! Remember decluttering isn’t just a one time thing. It’s a lifestyle that we are creating for simplicity, sanity and peaceful living.
